Worship Ministry
“I will extol You, my God, O King, and I will bless Your name forever and ever.
Every day I will bless You, and I will praise Your name forever and ever.
Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised, and His greatness is unsearchable.”
-Psalm 145:1-3 NASB
We’ve just launched a YouTube playlist that features many of the songs we use in our Sunday gatherings.
Whether you want to prepare your heart before Sunday, revisit a song that was meaningful to you, or simply want to share them with others, we hope you will find this resource a great source of encouragement!
What is Biblical Worship?
Biblical worship can be briefly defined as giving God glory for who He is, what He has done, what He is doing, and what He has promised to do. Worshiping God involves far more than the singing that takes place when the church gathers. In Romans 12, we’re reminded that worship encompasses all of our lives. God calls His people to:
“...present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.”
– Romans 12:1 (NASB)
Likewise, in Colossians 3, Paul writes:
“Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.”
– Colossians 3:17 (NASB)
Our worship of God is a blood-bought privilege—made possible only through the perfect life, sacrificial death, and victorious resurrection of Jesus Christ. Because of Christ, and through faith in Him, we can have a right standing with God.
“Jesus said, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.’” – John 14:6 (NASB)
In the end, God—our Creator and Savior—is worthy of all our praise... and infinitely more!
What does worship look like on Sundays?
Our Sunday morning gatherings are the highlight of our week. It's during these gatherings where we see the church worshiping God, being built up and encouraged, as well as seeing the work of the Holy Spirit manifested in the lives of the people here.
The music we sing at Village Bible Church is a mix of traditional and contemporary. Most Sundays we use a band (guitars, bass, drums, etc.), but we also involve our VBC Choir and other musical groups throughout the year. We love what the rich hymns of the past teach us as well as the blessings and encouragement in the songs of today. We choose songs that lead our people to see the greatness of their God, to declare their need for His grace, and to praise the name of Jesus for what He has done for us in saving them and giving them hope. More than anything, we desire and encourage congregational singing. You will also find that we often intentionally include times of reading / reciting scripture, and prayer in our services. We also recognize and give glory to God as we practice the ordinances God has called us to do: communion and baptism. We remember the Lord's Supper almost every first Sunday of the month and baptisms at various times throughout the year.
What are the areas of the Worship & Music Ministry?
Worship Teams
One of the most active parts of the worship ministry is our Sunday worship teams. These teams are made up of vocalists and instrumentalists such as acoustic guitar, bass guitar, drums, piano, and many other instruments.
Our goals for the worship teams are:
To see each individual grow deeper in their personal relationship with the Lord. This includes what it means to humbly and effectively lead the church body in worshiping God for His glory!
To see the worship team members grow in their musicality through singing and playing to the best of their ability.
To see each person challenged to a standard of doing their best with excellence - not only in musical ability, but in every area of life to the praise and glory of God!
To learn more about what it means to worship God both publicly and privately, and finding joy and hope, even when challenges come our way.
VBC Choir
The VBC Choir is one of the largest music ensembles at Village Bible Church. We are a group of singers and musicians, but we are first brothers and sisters in Christ. Together, we use music to lead others in worship, proclaim the Gospel and encourage one another.
Tech Ministry | Audio , Visual, Camera
Our tech volunteers help to run the sound systems, presentation software, and camera systems to serve those in the live service and those watching online. Our tech volunteers support the leadership, teams, speakers, etc. and work alongside them to achieve our goal of making God great!
Interested in being a part of the Worship Ministries?
Join the Worship Team / VBC Choir
We’re looking for volunteers who love the Lord, are passionate about leading others in worship, and have skill in playing an instrument and / or singing. If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!
Join the A/V Ministry
What happens on stage during a service is only part of a much larger picture—one that relies on the dedication of faithful volunteers working behind the scenes. Our Audio/Visual Ministry plays a crucial role in ensuring that every message is seen and heard clearly, from sound and video to presentations and livestreams. We are looking for volunteers to help run sound, presentations, and camera systems. No prior experience? No problem! We’ll provide the training you need.
