SI does long-term, on-going community development in Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Nicaragua through the full-time staff missionaries serving in those countries. In addition, outreach participants join the staff missionaries on short-term or semester programs throughout the year.
SI’s Occupational Ministry Sites are locations where we do occupationally specific ministry that correlates with career, academic, or person interests of the participant. By working alongside our full-time missionary staff in these focused environments – such as dentistry, agriculture, and micro-finance – our short-term participants are able to come together cross-culturally to encounter God, share the Good News, disciple and serve the poor.
Costa Rica is a beautiful Central American country known for its rich agricultural land, beautiful beaches and lush tropical rain forests. SI's ministry in Costa Rica is located in the southern part of the capital city, San Jose, in several communities in and around Desamparados. Students International's ministry in Costa Rica began in 2008, and has continued to reach the people of the community as they start new ministry sites and find tangible ways to meet needs.
