Baptism

Baptism – A Disciple’s First Step

Jesus made it clear that baptism is the first step of discipleship:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you.”                            Matthew  28:19-20

Village Bible Church practices what could be called “believer’s baptism by immersion.”  That is, one who has placed their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior is immersed in water as a testimony to this fact.  We have done baptisms at both an outdoor lake as well as the baptistry in our building.

While not required for salvation or even church membership at Village Bible Church, this step of obedience is an important element of everyone’s Christian life.  The consistent pattern in the inspired history of the early church – The Book of Acts – is “they believed and were baptized.”

Baptism is publicly declaring “I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back;” and I want to obey Him and show that commitment openly.

If you are interested in being baptized or have questions concerning it, please send an email to , by phone at 501-922-0404, or the communication card in your Sunday bulletin. A pastor will contact you.
